Dearly beloved brethren, the Scripture moveth us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness; and that we should not dissemble nor cloak them before the face of Almighty God our heavenly Father; but confess them with an humble, lowly, penitent, and obedient heart; to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy. And although we ought at all times humbly to acknowledge our sins before God; yet ought we most chiefly so to do, when we assemble and meet together, to render thanks for the great benefits that we have received at his hands, to set forth his most worthy praise, to hear his most holy Word, and to ask those things which are requisite and necessary as well for the body as the soul. Wherefore I pray and beseech you, as many as are here present, to accompany me with a pure heart, and humble voice, unto the throne of the heavenly grace, saying after me:
Almighty and most merciful Father, We have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep: We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts: We have offended against thy holy laws: We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders: Spare thou themthose, O God, whichwho confess their faults: Restore thou them thatthose who are penitent; According to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesu our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, To the glory of thy holy Name. Amen.
Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who desireth not the death of a sinner, but rather that he may turn from his wickedness and live; and hath given power and commandment to his Ministers, to declare and pronounce to his people, being penitent, the absolution and remission of their sins: He pardoneth and absolveth all them thatthose who truly repent, and unfeignedly believe his holy Gospel. Wherefore let us beseech him to grant us true repentance, and his Holy Spirit; that those things may please him which we do at this present, and that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure and holy; so that at the last we may come to his eternal joy, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Our Father, whichwho art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done inon earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them thatthose who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
1 | Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised * in the city of our God, even upon his holy hill. |
2 | The hill of Sion is a fair place, and the joy of the whole earth: * upon the northside lieth the city of the great King; God is well known in her palaces as a sure refuge. |
3 | For lo, the kings of the earth * are gathered, and gone by together. |
4 | They marvelled to see such things; * they were astonished, and suddenly cast down. |
5 | Fear came there upon them, and sorrow, * as upon a woman in her travail. |
6 | Thou shalt break the ships of the sea * through the east wind. |
7 | Like as we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God; * God upholdeth the same for ever. |
8 | We wait for thy lovingkindness, O God, * in the midst of thy temple. |
9 | O God, according to thy Name, so is thy praise unto the world's end; * thy right hand is full of righteousness. |
10 | Let the mount Sion rejoice, and the daughter of Judah be glad, * because of thy judgements. |
11 | Walk about Sion, and go round about her; * and tell the towers thereof. |
12 | Mark well her bulwarks, set up her houses, * that ye may tell them that come after. |
13 | For this God is our God for ever and ever: * he shall be our guide unto death. |
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen. |
1 | Let God arise, and let his enemies be scattered; * let them also that hate him flee before him. |
2 | Like as the smoke vanisheth, so shalt thou drive them away; * and like as wax melteth at the fire, so let the ungodly perish at the presence of God. |
3 | But let the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; * let them also be merry and joyful. |
4 | O sing unto God, and sing praises unto his Name: * magnify him that rideth upon the heavens, as it were upon an horse; praise him in his Name JAH, and rejoice before him. |
5 | He is a father of the fatherless, and defendeth the cause of the widows; * even God in his holy habitation. |
6 | He is the God that maketh men to be of one mind in an house, and bringeth the prisoners out of captivity; * but letteth the runagates continue in scarceness. |
7 | O God, when thou wentest forth before the people, * when thou wentest through the wilderness; |
8 | The earth shook, and the heavens dropped at the presence of God: * even as Sinai also was moved at the presence of God, who is the God of Israel. |
9 | Thou, O God, sentest a gracious rain upon thine inheritance, * and refreshedst it when it was weary. |
10 | Thy congregation shall dwell therein; * for thou, O God, hast of thy goodness prepared for the poor. |
11 | The Lord gave the word; * great was the company of the preachers. |
12 | Kings with their armies did flee, and were discomfited, * and they of the household divided the spoil. |
13 | Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove * that is covered with silver wings, and her feathers like gold. |
14 | When the Almighty scattered kings for their sake, * then were they as white as snow in Salmon. |
15 | As the hill of Basan, so is God's hill; * even an high hill, as the hill of Basan. |
16 | Why hop ye so, ye high hills? this is God's hill, in the which it pleaseth him to dwell; * yea, the Lord will abide in it for ever. |
17 | The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels; * and the Lord is among them, as in the holy place of Sinai. |
18 | Thou art gone up on high, thou hast led captivity captive, and received gifts for men; * yea, even for thine enemies, that the Lord God might dwell among them. |
19 | Praised be the Lord daily, * even the God who helpeth us, and poureth his benefits upon us. |
20 | He is our God, even the God of whom cometh salvation: * God is the Lord, by whom we escape death. |
21 | God shall wound the head of his enemies, * and the hairy scalp of such a one as goeth on still in his wickedness. |
22 | The Lord hath said, I will bring my people again, as I did from Basan; * mine own will I bring again, as I did sometime from the deep of the sea. |
23 | That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies, * and that the tongue of thy dogs may be red through the same. |
24 | It is well seen, O God, how thou goest; * how thou, my God and King, goest in the sanctuary. |
25 | The singers go before, the minstrels follow after: * in the midst are the damsels playing with the timbrels. |
26 | Give thanks, O Israel, unto God the Lord in the congregations, * from the ground of the heart. |
27 | There is little Benjamin their ruler, and the princes of Judah their counsel; * the princes of Zabulon, and the princes of Nephthali. |
28 | Thy God hath sent forth strength for thee; * stablish the thing, O God, that thou hast wrought in us, |
29 | For thy temple's sake at Jerusalem: * so shall kings bring presents unto thee. |
30 | When the company of the spearmen and multitude of the mighty are scattered abroad among the beasts of the people, so that they humbly bring pieces of silver: * and when he hath scattered the people that delight in war; |
31 | Then shall the princes come out of Egypt; * the Morians' land shall soon stretch out her hands unto God. |
32 | Sing unto God, O ye kingdoms of the earth; * O sing praises unto the Lord; |
33 | Who sitteth in the heavens over all from the beginning: * lo, he doth send out his voice, yea, and that a mighty voice. |
34 | Ascribe ye the power to God over Israel; * his worship and strength is in the clouds. |
35 | O God, wonderful art thou in thy holy places: * even the God of Israel, he will give strength and power unto his people; blessed be God. |
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen. |
1 | In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. |
2 | Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, saying, |
3 | I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. |
4 | And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him, saying, |
5 | Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the Lord. |
6 | And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake. |
7 | And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered. |
8 | And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the Lord the third day? |
9 | And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the Lord, that the Lord will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? |
10 | And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. |
11 | And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the Lord: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz. |
12 | At that time Berodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick. |
13 | And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not. |
14 | Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon. |
15 | And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them. |
16 | And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord. |
17 | Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord. |
18 | And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. |
19 | Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days? |
20 | And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made a pool, and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? |
21 | And Hezekiah slept with his fathers: and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead. |
We praise thee, O God; * we acknowledge thee to be the Lord.
All the earth doth worship thee, * the Father everlasting.
To thee all Angels cry aloud; * the Heavens, and all the powers therein.
To thee Cherubin and Seraphin * continually do cry,
Holy, Holy, Holy, * Lord God of Sabaoth;
Heaven and earth are full of the Majesty * of thy glory.
The glorious company of the Apostles * praise thee.
The goodly fellowship of the Prophets * praise thee.
The noble army of Martyrs * praise thee.
The holy Church throughout all the world * doth acknowledge thee;
The Father * of an infinite Majesty;
Thine honourable, true, * and only Son;
Also the Holy Ghost * the Comforter,
Thou art the King of Glory, * O Christ;
Thou art the everlasting Son * of the Father.
When thou tookest upon thee to deliver man, * thou didst not abhor the Virgin's womb.
When thou hadst overcome the sharpness of death, * thou didst open the Kingdom of Heaven to all believers.
Thou sittest at the right hand of God, * in the glory of the Father.
We believe that thou shalt come * to be our Judge.
We therefore pray thee, help thy servants, * whom thou hast redeemed with thy precious blood.
Make them to be numbered with thy saints, * in glory everlasting.
O Lord, save thy people, * and bless thine heritage.
Govern them * and lift them up for ever.
Day by day * we magnify thee;
And we worship thy Name * ever, world without end.
Vouchsafe, O Lord, * to keep us this day without sin.
O Lord, have mercy upon us, * have mercy upon us.
O Lord, let thy mercy lighten upon us, * as our trust is in thee.
O Lord, in thee have I trusted; * let me never be confounded. |
1 | And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, |
2 | And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. |
3 | And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. |
4 | Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. |
5 | While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. |
6 | And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. |
7 | And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. |
8 | And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. |
9 | And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. |
10 | And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? |
11 | And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. |
12 | But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. |
13 | Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist. |
14 | And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, |
15 | Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. |
16 | And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. |
17 | Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. |
18 | And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. |
19 | Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? |
20 | And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. |
21 | Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. |
22 | And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: |
23 | And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry. |
24 | And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? |
25 | He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? |
26 | Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. |
27 | Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. |
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; * for he hath visited and redeemed his people;
And hath raised up a mighty salvation for us, * in the house of his servant David;
As he spake by the mouth of his holy Prophets, * which have been since the world began;
That we should be saved from our enemies, * and from the hand of all that hate us:
To perform the mercy promised to our forefathers, * and to remember his holy covenant;
To perform the oath which he sware to our forefather Abraham, * that he would give us;
That we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies * might serve him without fear;
In holiness and righteousness before him, * all the days of our life.
And thou, Child, shalt be called the Prophet of the Highest: * for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
To give knowledge of salvation unto his people * for the remission of their sins,
Through the tender mercy of our God; * whereby the Day-spring from on high hath visited us;
To give light to them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death, * and to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen. |
Whosoever will be saved, * before all things it is necessary that he hold the Catholic Faith.
Which Faith, except every one do keep whole and undefiled, * without doubt he shall perish everlastingly.
And the Catholic Faith is this: * That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity;
Neither confounding the Persons, * nor dividing the Substance.
For there is one Person of the Father, another of the Son, * and another of the Holy Ghost.
But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, is all one: * the Glory equal, the Majesty co-eternal.
Such as the Father is, such is the Son, * and such is the Holy Ghost.
The Father uncreate, the Son uncreate, * and the Holy Ghost uncreate.
The Father incomprehensible, the Son incomprehensible, * and the Holy Ghost incomprehensible.
The Father eternal, the Son eternal, * and the Holy Ghost eternal;
And yet they are not three eternals, * but one eternal.
As also there are not three incomprehensibles, nor three uncreated, * but one uncreated, and one incomprehensible.
So likewise the Father is Almighty, the Son Almighty, * and the Holy Ghost Almighty;
And yet they are not three Almighties, * but one Almighty.
So the Father is God, the Son is God, * and the Holy Ghost is God;
And yet they are not three Gods, * but one God.
So likewise the Father is Lord, the Son Lord, * and the Holy Ghost Lord;
And yet not three Lords, * but one Lord.
For like as we are compelled by the Christian verity * to acknowledge every Person by himself to be God and Lord;
So are we forbidden by the Catholic Religion * to say, There be three Gods, or three Lords.
The Father is made of none: * neither created, nor begotten.
The Son is of the Father alone: * not made, nor created, but begotten.
The Holy Ghost is of the Father, and of the Son: * neither made, nor created, nor begotten, but proceeding.
So there is one Father, not three Fathers; one Son, not three Sons; * one Holy Ghost, not three Holy Ghosts.
And in this Trinity none is afore, or after other; * none is greater, or less than another;
But the whole three Persons are co-eternal together, * and co-equal.
So that in all things, as is aforesaid, * the Unity in Trinity, and the Trinity in Unity, is to be worshipped.
He therefore that will be saved * must thus think of the Trinity.
Furthermore, it is necessary to everlasting salvation * that he also believe rightly the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For the right Faith is, that we believe and confess * that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God and Man;
God, of the substance of the Father, begotten before the worlds; * and Man, of the substance of his mother, born in the world;
Perfect God, and perfect Man, * of a reasonable soul, and human flesh subsisting;
Equal to the Father, as touching his Godhead, * and inferior to the Father, as touching his Manhood.
Who although he be God and Man, * yet he is not two, but one Christ;
One; not by conversion of the Godhead into flesh, * but by taking of the Manhood into God;
One altogether; not by confusion of Substance, * but by unity of Person.
For as the reasonable soul and flesh is one man, * so God and Man is one Christ;
Who suffered for our salvation, * descended into hell, rose again the third day from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, he sitteth on the right hand of the Father, God Almighty, * from whence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
At whose coming all men shall rise again with their bodies, * and shall give account for their own works.
And they that have done good, shall go into life everlasting; * and they that have done evil, into everlasting fire.
This is the Catholic Faith: * which except a man believe faithfully, he cannot be saved.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen. |
The Lord be with you:
And with thy spirit.
Let us pray.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Our Father, whichwho art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done inon earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them thatthose who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. Amen.
O Lord, show thy mercy upon us;
And grant us thy salvation.
O Lord, save the State;
And mercifully hear us, when we call upon thee.
Endue thy Ministers with righteousness;
And make thy chosen people joyful.
O Lord, save thy people;
And bless thine inheritance.
Give peace in our time, O Lord;
Because there is none other that fighteth for us, but only thou, O God.
O God, make clean our hearts within us;
And take not thy Holy Spirit from us.
God, who as at this time, didst teach the hearts of thy faithful people, by the sending to them the light of thy Holy Spirit; Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort, through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour; who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
O God, who art the author of peace, and lover of concord, in knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life, whose service is perfect freedom; Defend us thy humble servants in all assaults of our enemies; that we surely trusting in thy defence, may not fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O Lord our heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God, who hast safely brought us to the beginning of this day; Defend us in the same with thy mighty power; and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all our doings may be ordered by thy governance, to do always that is righteous in thy sight, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O God the Father of heaven: have mercy upon us miserable sinners.
O God the Father of heaven: have mercy upon us miserable sinners.
O God the Son, Redeemer of the world: have mercy upon us miserable sinners.
O God the Son, Redeemer of the world: have mercy upon us miserable sinners.
O God the Holy Ghost, proceeding from the Father and the Son: have mercy upon us miserable sinners.
O God the Holy Ghost, proceeding from the Father and the Son: have mercy upon us miserable sinners.
O holy, blessed, and glorious Trinity, three Persons, and one God: have mercy upon us miserable sinners.
O holy, blessed, and glorious Trinity, three Persons, and one God: have mercy upon us miserable sinners.
Remember not, Lord, our offences, nor the offences of our forefathers; neither take thou vengeance of our sins: spare us, good Lord, spare thy people, whom thou hast redeemed with thy most precious blood, and be not angry with us for ever.
Spare us, good Lord.
From all evil and mischief, from sin, from the crafts and assaults of the devil, from thy wrath, and from everlasting damnation,
Good Lord, deliver us.
From all blindness of heart; from pride, vain-glory, and hypocrisy; from envy, hatred, and malice, and all uncharitableness,
Good Lord, deliver us.
From fornication, and all other deadly sin; and from all the deceits of the world, the flesh, and the devil,
Good Lord, deliver us.
From lightning and tempest; from plague, pestilence, and famine; from battle, and murder, and from sudden death,
Good Lord, deliver us.
From all sedition, privy conspiracy, and rebellion; from all false doctrine, heresy, and schism; from hardness of heart, and contempt of thy Word and Commandment,
Good Lord, deliver us.
By the mystery of thy holy Incarnation; by thy holy Nativity, and Circumcision; by thy Baptism, Fasting, and Temptation,
Good Lord, deliver us.
By thine Agony and bloody Sweat; by thy Cross and Passion; by thy precious Death and Burial; by thy glorious Resurrection and Ascension; and by the coming of the Holy Ghost,
Good Lord, deliver us.
In all time of our tribulation; in all time of our wealth; in the hour of death, and in the day of judgment,
Good Lord, deliver us.
We sinners do beseech thee to hear us, O Lord God; and that it may please thee to rule and govern thy holy Church universal in the right way;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to illuminate all Bishops, Priests, and Deacons, with true knowledge and understanding of thy Word; and that both by their preaching and living they may set it forth, and show it accordingly;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to bless and preserve our Rulers and Magistrates, [especially —,] giving them grace to execute justice, and to maintain truth;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to bless and keep all thy people;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to give to all nations unity, peace, and concord;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to give us an heart to love and dread thee, and diligently to live after thy Commandments;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to give to all thy people increase of grace, to hear meekly thy Word, and to receive it with pure affection, and to bring forth the fruits of the Spirit;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to bring into the way of truth, all such as have erred, and are deceived;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to strengthen such as do stand, and to comfort and help the weak-hearted, and to raise up them thatthose who fall, and finally to beat down Satan under our feet;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to succour, help, and comfort all that are in danger, necessity, and tribulation;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to preserve all that travel by land or by water, all women labouring of child, all sick persons and young children, and to show thy pity upon all prisoners and captives;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to defend and provide for the fatherless children and widows, and all that are desolate and oppressed;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to have mercy upon all men;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to forgive our enemies, persecutors, and slanderers, and to turn their hearts;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to give and preserve to our use the kindly fruits of the earth, so as in due time we may enjoy them;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
That it may please thee to give us true repentance, to forgive us all our sins, negligences, and ignorances, and to endue us with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, to amend our lives according to thy holy Word;
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
Son of God: we beseech thee to hear us.
Son of God: we beseech thee to hear us.
O Lamb of God: that takest away the sins of the world;
Grant us thy peace.
O Lamb of God: that takest away the sins of the world;
Have mercy upon us.
O Christ, hear us.
O Christ, hear us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Amen.
O Lord, deal not with us after our sins:
Neither reward us after our iniquities.
Let us pray.
O God, merciful Father, thatwho despisest not the sighing of a contrite heart, nor the desire of such as beare sorrowful; Mercifully assist our prayers that we make before thee in all our troubles and adversities, whensoever they oppress us; and graciously hear us, that those evils, which the craft and subtilty of the devil or man worketh against us, be brought to nought, and by the providence of thy goodness they may be dispersed; that we thy servants, being hurt by no persecutions, may evermore give thanks unto thee in thy holy Church, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
O Lord, arise, help us, and deliver us for thy Name's sake.
O God, we have heard with our ears, and our fathers have declared unto us, the noble works that thou didst in their days, and in the old time before them.
O Lord, arise, help us, and deliver us for thine Honour.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.
From our enemies defend us, O Christ.
Graciously look upon our afflictions.
Pitifully behold the sorrows of our hearts.
Mercifully forgive the sins of thy people.
Favourably with mercy hear our prayers.
O Son of David, have mercy upon us.
Both now and ever vouchsafe to hear us, O Christ.
Graciously hear us, O Christ; graciously hear us, O Lord Christ.
O Lord, let thy mercy be showed upon us;
As we do put our trust in thee.
Let us pray.
We humbly beseech thee, O Father, mercifully to look upon our infirmities; and for the glory of thy Name, turn from us all those evils that we most righteously have deserved; and grant, that in all our troubles we may put our whole trust and confidence in thy mercy, and evermore serve thee in holiness and pureness of living, to thy honour and glory, through our only Mediator and Advocate, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Almighty God our heavenly Father, who hast purchased to thyself an universal Church by the precious blood of thy dear Son; Mercifully look upon the same, and at this time so guide and govern the minds of thy servants the Bishops and Pastors of thy flock, that they may lay hands suddenly on no man, but faithfully and wisely make choice of fit persons to serve in the sacred Ministry of thy Church: And to those which shall be ordained to any holy Function, give thy grace and heavenly benediction, that both by their life and doctrine they may set forth thy glory, and set forward the salvation of all men, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Most gracious God, we humbly beseech thee, as for this nation in general, so especially for the Legislature at this time assembled: That thou wouldest be pleased to direct and prosper all their consultations to the advancement of thy glory, the good of thy Church, the safety, honour, and welfare of thy people; that all things may be so ordered and settled by their endeavours, upon the best and surest foundations, that peace and happiness, truth and justice, religion and piety may be established among us for all generations. These and all other necessaries, for them, for us, and thy whole Church, we humbly beg in the Name and Mediation of Jesus Christ our most blessed Lord and Saviour. Amen.
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we thine unworthy servants do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving-kindness to us, and to all men: We bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we may show forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives; by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days, through Jesus Christ our Lord; to whom, with thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.
Almighty God, who hast given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications unto thee; and dost promise that when two or three are gathered together in thy Name, thou wilt grant their requests; Fulfil now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of thy servants, as may be most expedient for them; granting us in this world knowledge of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. Amen.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.
